Please read: Information about how COVID-19 is affecting events

We wish to bring to your attention the current position of Hawk Green Band due to the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19:

As of 16th March 2020, Hawk Green Band has cancelled all rehearsals, concerts, events and any other person-to-person, band-related business following the advice issued by Brass Bands England (BBE) and the Prime Minister. We hope any cancelled events can be re-scheduled, or indeed that we receive advice from relevant organisations including the government and BBE that we may resume business as usual, may still go ahead.

You can read our full statement regarding this action on our website, together with useful links to appropriate organisations regarding advice about COVID-19.

The preliminary steps we have taken for now, is to contact all event organisers of booked engagements with Hawk Green Band up to and [presently] including 31st August 2020 [although this is subject to change]. This is to give ample time to those organisations to contact all necessary persons should events need to be cancelled or rescheduled.

All previously confirmed engagements shall remain in the band’s calendar with details advising that the event is presently cancelled or that the event may still proceed (as other organisations may not have been issued with the same advice which brass bands have) but without the participation of Hawk Green Band. Should the advice to refrain from performing at events be rescinded prior to the date of any previously confirmed engagement, we shall contact the event organiser to see if they still wish or require Hawk Green Band to perform at their event.

Any booking requests not confirmed or received prior to 16th March 2020 will still be provisionally entered in the band’s diary, but we bring to your attention that until we have received advice that normal band business and activities can resume, we cannot confirm any new engagements.

Event organisers with previously confirmed dates, who wish to reschedule their event may do so as soon as they have proposed new dates in mind. Rescheduled event date requests shall take precedence over any presently unconfirmed booking enquiry, or booking enquiries received after 16th March 2020.

We appreciate and recognise the impact the action Hawk Green Band has had to take may have on you and your organisation, and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Previous Hawk Green Band Coronavirus updates:

Monday 16th March 2020, 6.35pm
* All band business including rehearsals and events cancelled until further notice *

Further to our earlier communication today to events organisers advising of the possibility of events being cancelled due to too few members choosing or being able to attend rehearsals and/or events owing to the need to self-isolate in order to protect themselves and/or people in their care from coming into contact or contracting COVID-19, we have since received the following advice from Brass Bands England

Update [ from BBE ] 16/03/20 17:30

The Government has tonight updated its guidance to avoid all non-essential contact. Brass bands are non-essential. BBE now recommends to our members and the wider brass band community that all in person brass band activity is stopped for the foreseeable future. This includes rehearsals, concerts, contests, committee meetings, other group activity and individual lessons.

Therefore it is with heavy heart that in view of the advice received from BBE and the Government to avoid social gatherings, we are cancelling all scheduled rehearsals, concerts, contests, committee meetings and other group activity related to the organisation: Hawk Green Band with immediate effect.

Any booking enquiries received will be responded to and provisional dates will still be entered into our events diary, unfortunately no firm bookings will be made until we receive further advice that our band business can resume to normal.

We will continue to post updates on our website and Facebook pages  and will be contacting event organisers with a copy of this statement. We thank you for your understanding during this worrying and difficult period, and thank you for choosing and supporting Hawk Green Band.

Useful links with information regarding COVID-19:

If as a result of having to self-isolate, or due to events being cancelled you are feeling isolated and vulnerable; unable to conduct normal activities including shopping, collecting prescriptions etc please do seek help from your friends, family, neighbours and local community groups. Please do not worry or suffer in silence: this is a worrying and distressing time for everyone and now is the time to pull together to help the most vulnerable amongst us. People are happy to help.

* Hawk Green Band Coronavirus/Events Update *

In view of current global events: the spread of Coronavirus - we wish to update you regarding upcoming events and advise what Hawk Green Band are doing to limit the risks presented by the transmission of COVID-19 at any of our events. As an organisation, we have a duty of care to our players, members and the general public, and are following the advice issued by Brass Bands England (BBE) which can be found here https://www.bbe.org.uk/…/bbe-statement-the-covid-19-pandemic

Presently, there has been no instruction or advice from the BBE to cancel events, but this is an evolving situation and we are closely monitoring advice from the following agencies: BBE, the NHS, the Government and the World Health Organisation. However, as an organisation, we must respect and support the decision and right of every member of our band to not attend rehearsals and/or concerts/events during this worrying and uncertain period, because of the need to self-isolate in order to protect themselves or someone they care for, from coming into contact with someone who has COVID-19. There is no plan at this moment in time from Hawk Green Band to cancel events, but we must advise that should we not have enough band members to perform at an event then this is a likely possibility. We will keep all event organisers updated as soon as it becomes apparent an event is not viable.

We are also aware that your own organisation will be taking necessary steps to limit the worry, concern and spread of COVID-19 at your event and we ask that where events do go ahead, that your organisation gives careful thought to the provision of adequate facilities to enable hand-washing/sanitisation before, during and after the event for your event attendees, organisers and members of Hawk Green Band.

You may, as an organisation be considering the possibility of choosing to cancel your event. Should this be the course of action your organisation chooses, it will be fully supported by Hawk Green Band and at no detriment to yourselves. Hawk Green Band respects the decision of any event organiser to cancel an event in light of the current global situation.

Thank you for choosing and supporting Hawk Green Band
