About the band
The Hawk Green Band was originally formed in 1982 as a junior feeder band to The Marple Band and was known first as Marple Brass and then as Marple 'B' Band. It has just had its 25th anniversary.
In 1986 it started to compete in contests, having its first win at the Pilkington Northern Open Contest in St. Helens in 1988.
In 1997 the band took its current name of Hawk Green (Marple) Band.
The band is in the Third Section, North West Area.
Until recently, we rehearsed at the Cricket Club in Hawk Green, a small village just outside Marple.
Following a disastrous fire at the club on Saturday 6th September 2008, we are temporarily housed at Arden Dies.
We would like to thank all the local organisations who generously stepped in with offers of emergency accommodation and especially Martin Poynton of Arden Dies.
Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8pm-10pm). If you intend to come to a rehearsal, please contact one of the bandmasters for directions. (See Contact us.)
Visitors and prospective players are always welcome.
